As a B2B copywriter and editor, I have over 30 years of experience in transforming complex subjects into engaging content. My career has taken me from the trading floor of the London Metal Exchange to the business of superyachts, picking up rather a lot of knowledge about financial markets, technology, publishing, corporate communications, and luxury lifestyle along the way.

I specialise in proposition writing, long-form content, B2B marketing, and editorial strategy, particularly for businesses that need to communicate technical or niche subjects without putting their audiences to sleep.

Selected Achievements
 

  • Built and sold a content business: Co-founded Metals Insider, a specialist news and analysis publication that grew from zero to 6,000+ subscribers. Thomson Reuters, a Fortune 500 company, acquired us due to the trustworthiness of our daily content and high-calibre readership.
     

  • Created a 330-page travel guide for yacht captains and billionaires: Distributed globally to 5,000+ superyachts over 24 metres, 'The Y Yachting Itineraries' stands as the definitive cruising guide in the industry.
     

  • Wrote confidential M&A documentation: Information Memoranda and due diligence materials for transactions involving UK marketing agencies (incl. Circle Research, Kameleon, 4Ps, Orangebus) and pre-acquisition research for Hellman & Friedman, one of the oldest PE houses in the US.
     

  • Produced profitable conference programmes: Researched and created events for the financial services sector, including hedge funds, fund administration, and managed funds, with full P&L responsibility.
     

  • Managed content for an electronic trading platform: Responsible for all content acquisition, PR and media relations, and marketing communications during the first dotcom boom, including Deutsche Börse and ENRON partnerships.

I approach every project understanding that content has a job to do. It needs to inform, persuade, or position; often all three. Here's what you can expect when working with me:
 

  • Research-first approach: I dig into subjects properly before writing. My experience as a metals broker, product manager, and conference producer has equipped me with the ability to swiftly grasp technical topics.
     

  • Commercial awareness: I've sold advertising, sponsorship, and subscriptions. I've negotiated acquisitions and done due diligence. I understand that content ultimately needs to serve business objectives.
     

  • Adaptable voice: I can write for hedge fund managers and yacht crew in the same week. Different audiences require different registers. I adjust accordingly.
     

  • Self-sufficient: Give me a brief, and I'll deliver. I don't need hand-holding, and I'm comfortable managing projects from conception through to delivery.
